How to fix Wordpress 2.04 post problems

Wordpress Logo If you are having post problems with Wordpress 2.04, you aren’t the only one. You submit a post and wait and wait and wait until finally you get a blank screen, a timeout error, or you are asked to download the php file. The issue is that you are using pingomatic which can take a while to return results. There is hope though for us until Wordpress gets an update. Robert Deaton’s wp-no-ping-wait does a great job of fixing this issue. Unfortunately, Robert’s site is down because of hardware issues. If enough people post comments here asking for it, I will be happy to place it someplace publicly accessible.

UPDATE: Thanks to Jay Gilmore , of the Smashing Red Blog, has found a site that has the wp-no-ping-wait plugin.  Thanks again Jay!

Hi, I have this problem. Could you tell me where do I find the wp-no-ping-wait for download?
Txs

Txs,

I looked for it in some of the repositories and couldn’t find it. I can email it to you if you’d like. I am trying to contact the author and see if it would be ok for me to post it for him in them.

Joe,

Thanks for the link.

By the way. I have just upgraded a different (less busy) blog to WP 2.11 and the lag/timeout delay issue is gone. I am now using a huge ping list and things seem to be cool. I read somewhere on WP website that the timeouts seem to have been addressed in 2.05 (can’t remember where I read it for sure).

Cheers and all the best,

Jay

URGENT! If you have already updated to 2.11 in the last week. You need to update to 2.12 immediately. WordPress officials have announced that someone hacked their distro server and modified two files in the recent release packages of 2.11 and opened it so a XSS (Cross Site Scripting) threat.

Cheers and all the best,

Jay
